Legislation Introduced to Address and Prevent Sexual Assaults

A series of bills have been introduced in the Michigan House to prevent sexual assaults and enhance the reporting and prosecution of sexual assault and domestic violence cases. The bills aim to extend the retention period for certain medical records from 7 to 15 years, increased penalties related to a health professional misrepresenting medical procedures, and requires health professionals to obtain written consent for minors for invasive medical procedures involving the pelvic area.
