All healthcare providers want to grow their practices with new patients while keeping existing patients. In a recent article in Medical Economics, it suggests that 81% of consumers are unsatisfied with their healthcare experience. Patients are increasingly turning to providers who regularly connect with them and offer flexibility with how they schedule appointments, share information, and make payments. In the article they suggest offering speedy scheduling and check-in options, use of telehealth options, and communicate in more personal ways. Before implementing these suggestions healthcare providers need to acquaint themselves with state laws and HIPAA requirements so as not to run afoul of the law. If you are interested in learning what you can do to make the patient experience more positive, consistent with HIPAA and telehealth laws, contact Donna J. Craig, RN, JD at The Health Law Center.
