Case Study – Medical Practice Transaction

When the senior physician in a medical group  practice made the decision to retire, the younger physicians decided to purchase the medical practice.  The physicians sought out the expertise of The Health Law Center seeking a strategy for the purchase of the medical practice’s assets.  Initial discussions with the physicians focused on bullet points drafted by the senior physician’s business attorney.

A health care attorney is a business attorney with additional expertise in health care laws and regulations. Knowing the applicable health care laws and regulations is imperative in order to avoid civil and criminal penalties. Ms. Craig was able to restructure the proposed asset purchase to comply with health care legal requirements, while still achieving the physicians’ goals of owning the practice.
